Today’s SQUASH of the Week is an interesting one, as at the time I am writing this, it features a WWE tag team champion taking on the manager of the AEW tag team champions!

You may or may not remember MVP during his initial run in WWE but he was a pretty big deal. Seriously, check out that entrance. I know if I was a WWF Superstar(tm) I would definitely demand an inflatable tent to emerge from, wouldn’t you?
At the time, Mr. P was heading for a WrestleMania match against Chris Benoit for the United States title. He tells us that he was looking for a true challenge, so he had searched the globe for competition. And he found it in the form of the Lichtenstein heavyweight champion…

…Cedrick Von Haussen, who comes out to some wacky Alpine music as JBL and Michael Cole bicker back and forth in a manner most annoying. Michael Cole is my kryptonite and JBL is just as bad. How I ever survived these two in tandem is beyond me. Also beyond me – the idea that Johnny Gargano is appearing in front of us an elf.

MVP extends his hand in a show of friendship, then immediately extends his fist in a show of not friendship. He beats down Cedric with the punchiest and kickiest of offense imaginable.

MVP picks up Gargano for a big body slam, then does a bit of showboating with a ballin’ elbow drop. However, that’s not enough for the egotist and he picks up his foe for more punishment.

He eventually whips him into the corner and kicks in the mush and follows that up with a foursome of knee lifts. He then hits his finisher, the Playmaker, for the win. I’d ask how a move where the guy giving it jams his own knee into the mat makes any sense as a finisher but that may lead to me listening to more Michael Cole and JBL and while I love you guys and gals, I’d like to think you love me too and thus wouldn’t want me to torture myself like that. Regardless, this was the last we’d see of the Lichtenstein champion. Wonder if Gargano still has those lederhosen in the closet some place.
