I don’t remember a lot of Shawn Michaels & Diesel’s run as WWF tag team champions, but I do remember their incredible finishing sequence…which I will unveil to you this very day!
One of their opponents here would be yes…your eyes do not deceive you…CHRIS KANYON! His partner today would be Bob Starr. While I couldn’t get a good shot of his face, I did capture his best feature here, namely his ridiculous permullet. Get outta the way Raw girl – we need a better look at that glorious mane!
We start off with the best possible combination here, that being Shawn vs. Kanyon. We get some fast action with Shawn nailing Kanyon with a nice flying elbow before slamming him then kicking him in the face. I’ve seen a ton of jobber matches in my day, and it’s no wonder Kanyon was given some chances after folks saw him here.
Big Kev comes in next and squares off with Kanyon. What’s crazy here is that despite Nash being billed as such a giant, Kanyon is very nearly as tall as him! That doesn’t help Kanyon from taking a grade A butt kicking, as Diesel plows into him with more punchy-kicky offense than you can possibly imagine.
And now we get the star of the show – and by that I mean BOB Starr. Seriously, just take a moment to gaze longingly at that amazing hairdo. Even Shawn seems impressed! And honestly, a bit jealous. Just look at him!
Sure enough, HBK gets back in and starts to take Starr apart, stopping just for a moment to smirk at Kanyon. We get a suplexes and slams, along with a flying elbow. “That looks familiar!” quips commentator Randy Savage. I mean, it does, but yours was the best ever Macho Man!
Diesel comes back, and hits what I can best describe as a flying side suplex. Hey Dino Bravo, you see that? You just got outworked by Kevin Nash of all people. KEVIN NASH! You really were the worst wrestler ever.
Nash has finally had enough and hits the powerbomb. Now you might think that’s the finish, but no no – Shawn has something way more devastating in mind.
HBK comes in and runs back and forth at breakneck speed…then just stops, thinks the better of it, and pins the guy. HA! Always loved that and it’s certainly a worthy ending to yet another SQUASH of the Week!
