Again from the WCW Worldwide blog, here’s a Raven t-shirt. The front is fine. Nothing too interesting there…
But let’s take a look at the back of the shirt:
So what’s the problem?
The line in Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven” is:
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore”.
Plus, they forgot to put the quotation marks around “Nevermore”.
It would have taken whoever designed this shirt minimal effort to find a book of Mr. Poe’s poetry and stories to make sure they got it right.
Instead, they sold the shirt like this assuming that the stupid wrestling audience wouldn’t catch the mistake or know the substantial difference between “Quote” and “Quoth”.
So, this shirt manages to be insulting to both wrestling fans, and the legacy of Edgar Allan Poe.
Way to go, WCW!
