The WrestleCrap Mural, Should Toni-Mariah Headlined, WWF VHS tapes, Worst Arcade Games, and Earthquake in the Hall of Fame!!

WrestleCrap Mural

Before we do anything, I have to give mad props to John V for sending in this awesome WrestleCrap mural! Not sure if that was your handiwork or whose, but my hat, nay, my entire head goes off to you. Bravo. Here’s the entire image:

Onto the mail!

Jeremy W kicks us off with…”Am I right to be so angry Toni Storm v Mariah May didn’t main event Revolution? Here you had not only the best women’s feud they ever had but I’d argue the best feud they’ve had period, and instead they put on a disappointing main event nobody liked because Khan wanted the Swerve run in to main event. The fade out of ‘The End’ could have closed one of their best events ever and instead everything got dragged down. It’s just inexplicable to me and proof Khan needs a proper booker.”

Oh I am with you 100% on that. I’ve heard arguments that with it being at the nearly five hour (!!!) mark on the show, it’s possible that Toni-Mariah may not have gotten the same reaction. I disagree, namely because the Hollywood Ending was awesome and would have been no matter when it was. But I will also I counter with “well, don’t run five hour shows.” Also don’t run shows on Sundays if it’s at all possible to run them on Saturdays.

Some of us are old and don’t want to be up that late on a work night.

Jason W wants to know…”Which modern star would you like to see get into a bar fight with Da Crusher”

Easy answer would be like Gunther, right? Nope. I’d want Lance Archer, if only for the hope he’d throw him through the ceiling like he did to that one geek years back. Still one of my all time favorite Dynamite moments, especially because Jake Roberts was there and just kinda shrugged, seemingly asking, “What do you want ME to do about it?”

Ryan S asks…”Own any wwf broadcast vhs tapes?”

I think I still have some old ones. I also have an original VHS of the Warrior Workout, and I have NEVER seen another one of those anywhere. I’m planning on doing a full induction of that soon. I did it as a part of another induction like 20 years ago, and I have this weird, gnawing pull that I need to revisit it. Someone please talk me out of it, typing that out makes it sounds like the worst idea ever.

Arya W ponders…”During your run in independent pro wrestling, what was your favorite and least favorite part?”

Least would be my final match, simply because I had no idea how to take that chokeslam from the Big Show. I’ve always wanted to meet up with him and apologize for it. I promise he’d have zero idea who I even was. But yeah, one day. Best was ironically the same as the best part of WrestleCrap – meeting a bunch of folks I now am blessed to call friends. I knew Trash (Casey) before, but I never would have met folks like Diamond Dan, Quicksilver, Jeff Cohen, Derrick Guinn, and countless others.

Joseph rocks us with…”Hello Deal- what did you think of Gary Cherone’s stint in Van Halen? The only time I got to see VH was when he was at the helm, so I have some fond memories.”

I am a hyoooooge Extreme fan. In fact, they are pretty much my all-time favorite band. I think Gary’s voice is spectacular, so I actually like that era quite a bit. Sammy Hagar? Big fan of him too, in fact my first rock concert ever was seeing Sammy on the VOA tour FORTY ONE YEARS AGO. Did I mention I am old yet?

Mike M wants to know…”Who do you consider to be an underrated pro wrestling announcer? For me, it’s Larry Z”

He only did it I think once or twice, but I heard a match called by Howard Finkel (yes, he did play by play!!) and it was GREAT. Would have loved to have heard him do that more, but he was too busy being bullied by jerks who wouldn’t give him the chance.

Matthew J inserts a coin with…”What do you consider the worst arcade video game ever?”

I know it’s not objectively the worst, but I really hate Pit Fighter.

Richard P ponders…”I am attempting to save face after my last submission, that I am now convinced I typed whilst knee-deep in Jack Daniels. However, are there any wrestling autobiographies you wish were written, but won’t be due to someone’s passing? I personally vote for Gorilla Monsoon though I know a book is on the way soon.”

I don’t think a Gorilla autobiography would have been good as it would have been 100% kayfabe. Typing THAT out sounds like the best idea ever. But I think if I could have done a deep dive on Prime Time with Gorilla and Bobby, that would have been fantastic. Like an oral history of that show would be great. Sadly, all the key folks are either gone or in exile. Too bad. That’s my dream theme.

Joe J wraps us up with…”How do you think John Tenta would have reacted to his Hall of Fame induction?”

Oh John would have loved it. He was proud of his work for sure and rightly so. Knowing how much it would have meant to him…gosh. I do know Uncle Fred will do a great speech though and I cannot wait for that!

That’s all for this week. Keep those questions coming in!
