The “I am Jacques Rougeau” promo entry sent me digging for this.
Unfortunately, all I could find was a video where a fella pointed a camera at his television.

“When Quebecers Collide!”. Geez, The Zapruder Film was easier to make out than that video!

“Even more dynamic than The Megapowers exploding, it’s when The Canadians have a disagreement!!! The loser of the match just goes about on his daily routine…the stakess have never been so lower. It’s The War to settle the Dispute. Hot Mountie on Mountie action when a guy named Jacques fights a guy named Pierre.”

That card had Bret vs Anvil for the title. Yes for the history and the story. No for the workrate on Anvil’s side, although Bret probably carried him okay.

They would reunite as The Amazing French Canadians in WCW.

This is a highlight of the Rougeau vs. Ouellet match

Regarding “Canadians having a disagreement”, and the “Quebecers exploding”, it makes me wonder:

Because wrestling have always been said to mirror current events and society, have there ever been a wrestling feud or storyline surrounding the antagonism between Quebec and the central government in Canada?

    • simongr81 says:

Trish Stratus, a Canadian not from Quebec, called them “Frogs” (a derogatory term for French) during a Raw promo in Montreal.

    • The Angry Jobber says:

I was always thinking they were trying to make Dino Bravo like that. I still remember a WWF Magazine article right after he set the “world bench press record” that had “translated from french” in the text about his superiority over all wrestlers, but I can’t recall him feuding with non-Quebec canadiens during that time..

Don’t think too hard on it, you’re brain may explode on all things Canadian. ::shrugs:: Just saying
