Jacksonville, FL – All Elite Wrestling head Tony Khan is branching out this week with his purchase of controversial organization SlapFight.
The professional slapping league rose to infamy last year after episodes began airing on television. Khan has had his eye on the organization for a long time and finally reared back and followed through a few days ago.
“After watching Chris Jericho trade many, many slaps and chops with Minoru Suzuki last week on Dynamite, I just knew I had to add SlapFight under the AEW umbrella,” explained Tony Khan. “While some people saw Jericho’s chest turn into hamburger meat, I saw dollar signs. Gross, bloody, unecessary dollar signs.”
The deal, which reportedly reached into the tens of dollars, expands Khan portfolio, which includes AEW, ROH, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Fulham. Former AEW participant Paige VanZant, who recently joined SlapFight, will serve as a goodwill ambassador between the companies.
“I will bridge the gap by bringing the slap!” said VanZant in a written statement.
Tony Khan waved away any concern of his wrestlers getting hurt in the competitive slapping sport.
“I think this is a great chance for our great AEW roster to branch out and achieve greatness,” said Khan. “Besides, who wouldn’t want to slap Chris Jericho?”
