Tampa, FL – Newly signed star Roderick Strong addressed AEW fans for the first time since his surprise appearance at last week’s Dynamite. Joined by Vickie Guerrero, Strong bared his heart and soul to the wrestling world.
Sporting a stylish raffia cruiser hat, Strong cut a forceful, yet familiar promo.
“Tampa, my name is Roderick Strong,” stated Strong semi-factually. “I moved here when I was a kid and you welcomed me with open arms when we moved here from Wisconsin. You. Know. Me. Yes, you do.”
A determined and focused Strong paced around the ring, trying to compose himself. The crowd sat silently, hanging on his every word.
“My parents created The Master Of The Backbreaker, and Tampa, you raised The Master Of The Backbreaker. You are a part of the Master Of The Backbreaker! All of you! Alllll of you are part of the Master Of The Backbreaker” shouted Strong angrily.
Fans watched the wrestler intently, waiting with baited breath.
“You know me,” he continued before confusingly saying “You don’t know me. You don’t know me! You don’t know me. You don’t know nothing about me!”
“Understand this,” warned Strong. “When the violins play, violence is always on the way.”
The crowd erupted in cheers. Fans chanted Roderick Strong’s name before rushing to the ring, lifting him on their shoulders and carrying him out of the arena. Wrestling critics and reporters have labeled it as one of the greatest promos in wrestling history.
“It’s the same promo, what gives?” huffed Strong’s wife Marina Shafir backstage. “It’s just a dumb popularity contest with you marks.”
