Phoenix, AZ – WWE Superstar and guitarist Rick Boogs performed during at the Super Bowl Halftime show at Zipps Sports Grill last night. Despite the bar being full, his performance was only watched by a handful of people.
Gripping his Flying V, Boogs ripped into crowd-pleasing rock classics from AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Scorpions for the Super Bowl crowd. He flexed and strutted, walking around the patio stage, using several power moves to get people into it. Unfortunately, most patrons milled about, some checking their phones or calling their bookies.
Boogs knew he had to bust out the big guns and started playing KISS.
“I want to rock and roll all night,” sang Boogs, pausing for the audience to respond. When he was met by uncomfortable silence he jumped in with a hearty “…and party every day!”
Finally, Boogs went to the finish. A fog machine pumped out smoke across the stage. Cheap fireworks were set off as the familiar opening strains of Shinsuke Nakamura’s theme music filled the outdoor area. The former Intercontinental Champion himself emerged from the fog, dancing and gyrating in his usual fashion. Sadly, the second half of the Super Bowl had already started and the few people that had been outside returned to the game.
For their troubles, Boogz and Nakamura received two Zipps Dogs, a basket of onion rings, and their choice of well drink. No free refills. The duo hopes their next performance at the Dayton 500 will go better.
