Orlando, FL – A number of former Total Nonstop Action wrestlers and knockouts were seen at the WWE Performance Center this weekend trying to get on the roster.
The renewed interest in TNA stars was rekindled last week when former champions the Motor City Machine Guns made their surprise debut on Smackdown.
Sporting gray “Property of WWE Performance Center shirts, grapplers like Crimson, Matt Morgan, and Rellik (That’s Killer Spelled Backwards) showed their physical prowess by running the ropes and performing burpees. Former Knockouts such as Lei’D Tapa, Traci Brooks, and Lacey Von Erich cut various promos, ranging from happy to angry.
“The door is wide open and we’re trying to find the best fit for both NXT and the main roster,” said WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Creative Shawn Michaels. “Times have changed. If someone can bring something to WWE that we might have missed years ago, then bringing them on board is best for business. We see that it works, whether it’s TNA staples like Jordynne Grace, Joe Hendry, or now the Machine Guns.
TNA competitors participated in brief matches in the Performance Center to show if they were ready for television. The Flying Elvises took on Mahabali Shera and Rob Terry. Havok faced Salinas to a time-limit draw. While most agents were impressed, one wrestler in particular stuck out as being exceptional.
“Thank you all for coming today,” said Michaels to the group. “We have a lot to think over, but I can say, with confidence, that we are ready to make an offer today to one wrestler. Will, uh, Dixie C please come forward?”
The group of wrestlers grumbled as the masked “Dixie C” stood came to the front.
“Wow, sugah! I’m just plum excited to be a TNA star in WWE!” said Dixie C, her red hair peeking out from under the mask. “Ol’ Dixie C is ready to show all those Divas what for and make ya’ll super proud!”
Details remain vague, but WWE officials expect Dixie C to be a surprise entrant at Royal Rumble.
