Cleveland, OH – AEW stable Death Riders have added a new, menacing look to their repertoire as they continue to terrorize the roster.
Forgoing their usual t-shirt and pants look, the squadron have taken to wearing old Halloween costumes that make them appear to be riding the Grim Reaper.
“I was watching this old movie with Death itself when it hit me,” explained group leader Jon Moxley. “I think it was Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal. “It’s like ‘We’re the Death Riders, so we should be riding Death, right?’ What’s scarier than Death? Five badasses riding Death, that’s what.”
The latest tweak to the dominant group has been seen by some as an attempt to boost sagging ratings. Members of Death Riders have dismissed that idea and have shown support for the new direction.
“You don’t know me,” said a defiant Marina Shafir, trying not to trip in the costume.
“OoOoOoOoOo!” howled Claudia Castagnoli, waving his arms menacingly in the air, chasing after people in catering.
“Cinema is my inspiration and watching a black-and-white classic like The Seventh Seal is really going to elevate AEW,” explained Moxley. “Actually, wait. Now that I think about it, I was watching Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. That’s where I got the idea. I love when they beat Death in Twister and Battleship and then give him a melvin. Hahaha. Station!!!”
