WCW Hardcore Championship title belt replica

The WCW Hardcore Championship was one of the lamest belts in all of wrestling.

It was defended in some of the worst matches in WCW history.

For your amusement and education, here is a complete list of all of the esteemed WCW Hardcore Champions including Brian Knobbs, Three Count, Big Vito, Eric Bischoff, and Norman Smiley.

You can buy a replica of it here to remember the short history of crappy matches it gave us.

That has got to be one of the ugliest belts I’ve ever seen. At WWE’s Hardcore Title, as broken as it was, seemed like a perfect fit with the division it represented. This just looks like a ‘My First Title’.

  2. Cenamark says:

To be fair to Norman Smiley his reign was Hardcore Champ was the only angle involving the belt WCW put some effort into. The man was one of the most over people in the lower card.

  3. John C says:

Once the idiotic 24/7 title defense came into effect it killed any seriousness the WWF Hardcore belt had. There were some good early matches but once the typical Vince insane cackle sense of humor turned it into a slapstick comedy yuckfest it became lame real quick. So then the great innovative creative team in WCW decided let’s do the same thing, except crappier. YAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  4. The Scanian Maniac says:

Am I the only one that miss the hardcore division in today’s PG environment? 🙁

    • John C says:

For sure it’s a missed thing. I liked when Hardcore Holly, Road Dogg and the other guys had good hardcore title matches on tv. I’m all for the guys not getting brain killing concussions on a nightly basis but there’s got to be a way of doing things to give you that sense of thrills again rathar than the generic 3-4 standard Raw match.

  5. John Q Occupier says:

I’d buy one, but I’m afraid I’d injure myself doing so…

  6. Thomas Moffatt says:

This is screaming out for a parody of worst replica titles such as the Great American Bash WCW one when Ric Flair had left with the actual title… if that makes sense…

  7. Scrooge McSuck says:

I didn’t mind the 24/7 Rule, only under the reign of Crash Holly. It became a lame booking crutch after that.

Oh, back to the WCW Version… in the immortal words of Jay Sherman, “It Stinks!”

  8. Sir Thomas says:

Oh yeah, WCW had a hardcore division. I practically forgot about that! Whew boy, what a wreck.

    I miss hardcore.

  9. AdamX says:

Crowbar/Terry Funk/Meng had some good matches for the belt and as said Norman Smiley was awesome during his run.

  10. Mister Forth says:

I would make fun, but I never make fun of a belt Haku held.

  11. Jay "The Brain" Mann says:

I already have a replica of the WWE Hardcore title, so why shouldn’t I get one of the WCW one?

(I’d buy a replica of the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship too, if I’m honest)

  12. KM says:

That’s not even the real WCW Hardcore title.

That’s the actual Hardcore title that was defended by the likes of Norman Smiley and Three Count.

  13. ChrisV says:

Meng was the final champion. He left to go back to WWF as Haku while holding the belt.
TNA should bring in Haku and announce he’s the undefeated real World Hardcore Champion and start their own hardcore division. If Haku doesn’t have the actual belt anymore, they can just buy this one!
That’s a reference to TNA bringing in Rhino with the ECW World Championship.

    • Jake says:

I thought the Barbarian was the final champ. I guess I’m wrong.

      • oknazevad says:

Supposedly he gave the belt to Barbarian to give back to WCW for him. Honestly, this title had maybe three to five good matches in its history. And the fact that the “replica” that they sold was a completely different design from the actual belt used just goes to show how lame it was. By the time WCW did their half-assed attempt at jumping on the hardcore bandwagon the trend/fad/whatever was on the decline. I’m still amazed that the WWE hardcore title lasted as long as it did.

  14. thinksojoe says:

If I recall correctly, I believe this replica is fan designed. There’s a souce out there somewhere. I’m just too lazy to Google it at the moment.

  15. thinksojoe says:

The belt design of the commercially available WCW Hardcore Championship belt is not the same as the belt that was seen on WCW programming. The replica belt was based off original artwork sent to beltmaker JMar before the belt was made. Through his website a few months earlier, JMar held a contest to have a fan’s belt made into a real belt. Amateur beltmaker P-Roc Championship Belts sent JMar a rough copy of what JMar eventually made into the WCW Hardcore Championship that was used on TV with no credit given to the original creator.

  16. Dominic says:

This isn’t even the real WCW Hardcore Title, this is a knockoff that the majority of websites are touting as the real one. FAKE!
