My old buddy Matt of Dinosaur Dracula (and formerly of X-Entertainment) went on a Flea Market adventure and found some cool wrestling stuff: A horrifying wrestling magazine depicting Kamala with Hulk Hogan’s head on a spear (!) and some little bootleg wrestling figures of Ted DiBiase and The Bushwhackers.
It was so cool how the magazines loved the blood and gore pics. The first couple of wrestling books I bought in the mid 80’s (hope I still have them) were loaded with bloody images like Abby vs Carlos, Duety vs everybody and all the big feuds of the day.
Most dollar deal stores still seem to carry various wrestling knock off figures. That’s probably where the GWF will sell most of their merchandise and find their future employees.
i wonder if Kamala had any idea what they were gonna do with the cover
What are Ultimate Warrior and Jim Duggan doing on that blister?
Sigh….
Those were the good ole days. During the mid 80s I wasn’t a huge wrestling fan like I would later turn out to be so next to figures like those, I would buy a few packs of GI Joe and/or He Man. You could usually find toys like that in Walgreens, Longs (now CVS) or any dollar thrift store (those that came before Dollar Tree and Everything is $.99.) lol
Hey hey, I remember buying the magazine back then, I do remember there was an outrage in the following issue about how horrible the cover was.
As much of a mark I was, I never cared about Hogan so the cover was ok to me , heck when Bobby Heenan did promos saying that he was going to end Hulkmania , I wanted to believe him.
The Not Million Dollar Man and Not Bushwackers are hilarious.
