WWF Trivia Game 1997 1

Crapper Vincent Besse writes:

Today I found this World Wrestling Federation trivia game from 1997! No idea why a WWF product from 1997 uses the old logo instead of the New Generation logo…anyway, it’s a basic trivia game, but to paraphrase Kevin Nash, I’m not here to play.

Because you see…this trivia game (which, despite being from 1997, has Diesel on the cover) has a whiff of the Crap!

Here’s Diaper-Head Aldo Montoya on one side of the box…

And on another, Phil LaFon! Who, due to my complete lack of familiarity with him, I mistook for a random jobber.

The real Crap comes inside the box, though. There are various wrestler cards, but I picked out all the crappiest ones, just for you! I had no idea Papa Shango was in the WWF in 1996 or 97.

Not only were there the cards that actually went with the game, but somehow some WCW cards from 1998 made their way into the box, and boy are they WrestleCrap! Check out this lineup! (Not that I’d tell Scott Norton he’s WrestleCrap to his face, that picture makes him look terrifying!)

For only two dollars, this trivia game was well worth it for the comedic value alone, and I can entertain my friends with obscure questions about the New Generation era!

Wow, Vincent! That’s very cool! It’s a virtual cornucopia of Crap!

That was well worth the two bones!

  1. Sean Bateman says:

At least it is no AWA or Wrestlemania the VCR Game or even the obscure WCCW board game!

  2. Mortuary Matt says:

Dude I have this game too! Some of the questions are so obscure, ridiculous and irrelevant that you’d have to virtually live and die by wrestlecrap to even come close to getting the correct answers.

  3. Denny says:

I like how they chose a Disciple picture for the card that might make people believe he was the champ.

    • "The Big Cheese" Paul Kraft says:

“WCW World Heavyweight Champion The Disciple”. Oh, what a wonderful world that would be to live in. 🙂

  4. Geoff says:

Disciple was Hogan’s nephew. Yep, like he needs another reason to inflate his ego.

  5. Art0Donnell says:

That’s not Diesel on the box, that’s the New Diesel, which is much worse.

My brother and I recently dusted off our copy of the old WWF Trivia Game, and it’s like stepping into a weird alternate universe where history stopped in early 1996 (when the trivia questions were compiled) and Hulk Hogan never existed.

  6. Sean O says:

I heard rumors that Charles Wight was originally going to reprise his role as Papa Shango in 97 but was instead repackaged as Kama Mustafa (aka Pre-Godfather, Post Just KAMA and I’d like to imagine in-between Oxford Kama), so perhaps that card would make a wee bit more sense if they went the original route. Wasn’t he Shango in USWA 97 tho?

  7. The Doctor of Style says:

Look, it’s Brian Adams as a Hindu god.

  8. Idi 'Big Daddy' Amin says:

This is such a low-rent piece of crap they couldn’t even spell the company’s name right. What the hell is TitianSports? The leading sports-entertainment brand in Renaissance Italy?

  9. Vince B says:

You know, when I was taking pictures for this submission, I didn’t realize that there are two different eras of Bret Hart on the box! You have post Mania X Bret Hart staring down Stone Cold on the left…and all-pink late 80s Bret Hart on the right! That just adds to the weirdness.

  10. John C says:

Sting’s card reminds me of Diane Ladd in Wild at Heart when she goes all nutters with her lipstick. I do see to remember this game having really annoying questions so my friends would never play it against me. Sometimes WWE can hurt us and not heal us.

  11. Jeff says:

My mom had nearly every single card from that WCW set those NWO cards came from. I remember the binder. It also had a set of cards that were “embossed.”

  12. Dick Dastardly says:

I had the game as well.

Me and an old friend created our own game. We asked each other questions on the card, if we got it right, we drew a wrestler card. We continued until all wrestler cards were taken. Then, we would face off in a Survivor Series match where we would pick wrestlers from our deck, match them up, then roll the dice. Whoever rolled the lower number, their card was eliminated. It would continue until one of us lost our cards.

  13. AK says:

    LOL at Virgil/Vincent/Shane’s card.

That look on his face makes it appear like he is taking a literal Wrestlecrap in the ring.

Also it’s good to see the Goon get some love.

  14. Matthew says:

I have part two of the game, i never understood how to play it but liked reading the questions

    • "The Big Cheese" Paul Kraft says:

That’s all I like to do with Trivia games, too- read the questions and learn stuff. Forget the game itself! 🙂
