WWF Rage In The Cage Ssega CD ad

WWF Rage In The Cage for the Sega CD was… uh.. okay. Not awful, not great… just kind of there. I’ll let Joe Gagne explain the game:

The print ad comes courtesy of Sega CD Universe.

  1. Scrooge McSuck says:

When I finally got a Sega CD for my retro collection, the first game I bought for it was Rage in the Cage. I knew it was a so-so game, but I wanted it ever since I saw the ads in WWF Magazine.

This seems like the Raw games for Genesis and SNES, but with a combined roster from both games and CD nonsense.

At least you could have interesting matchups like Bret Hart vs Rick Martel or Bam Bam Bigelow vs Macho Man.

I had this game and I enjoyed both the ref bumps and the voice samples they used for pre-match promos. I used Kamala’s bellows as recordings for my answering machine (remember those?)

But not only wasn’t there a battle royal game, THERE WAS NO TAG TEAM OPTION!! When the biggest selling point of your game is a huge roster (20 was huge in that day), wouldn’t it make sense to feature more than two fighters in the ring at a time? (cough-cough-Mortal-Kombat-Armageddon-cough-cough)
