Having never owned the Playstation version of this game, I realized sometime ago that for grudge matches in Championship Mode had wrestlers cutting some promos, whereas in the Nintendo 64 version, the wrestlers were only shown in the gym punching a punching bag saying their taunt quote.
It’s funny to see that some wrestlers cutting promos for a video game and trying their best to have SOME kind of interest in doing them for a video game. Though Ahmed Johnson’s promos were funny to hear. Also, I never knew of any cutscenes with a ring rat during that mode, but then again, I had the Nintendo 64 version and it had nothing to imply such interludes with a girl.
Thanks, E-Squared!
All I can think of when I watch these is the hilarious “Fun With Ahmed” series. EAT A REEF!
Bulldog looks so high, wonder how many drugs he was on at the time?
Stopped watching once Bret popped up. Such a bad talker
Hey Davey, the camera is up here, stop obviously reading the cue cards.
Owen’s spots are easily my favorite ones. How could anyone compete with a two-time Slammy Award winner? I don’t know.
Yeah this was Rock before the Gynecomastia surgery.
Congratulations. You made me go back to look at Rocky’s boobs…
Who’s the skank in the limo at the end of this video?
I think she was supposed to be ring rat or something. I think I read somewhere that her name is Sue or something.
Dustin Rhodes. Promo genius.
It also seems that the promos were shot before “Attitude” went fully into effect (probably Summer ’97), development was made in the midst of it, and it was released when it was fully under way. You have Rock with his “blue chipper” Rocky Maivia gimmick using the Nation theme and HHH with the blueblood gimmick using the DX theme. Also, Bret, Bulldog, and Ahmed are used prominently despite being gone from WWF.
I thought Kane’s rants were the most thought-provoking.
PS1 promos > N64 promos
Sonnybone approved.
On the intro, was Bulldog clotheslining the real Razor or the fake one? Also, these promos looks more like early 90’s than Attitude era. (Funny how Shawn still talks about his “Kliq”.)
