Crapper Thomas Moffatt writes:

Here’s a pretty awful theme tune – this time someone who has been involved in more than his fair share of WrestleCrap.

Sounding like the theme tune to some 1970’s/1980’s TV crime comedy/drama about a private detective who also competes on the rodeo circuit and attempted to be performed in the style of Waylon Jennings we have ‘The Natural’ Dustin Rhodes.

One saving grace. This was NEVER the worst thing poor old Dustin was involved in.

Well, this falls squarely into the “Silly, but kind of catchy” category of theme music to me and I’ll take that over “boring” or “makes my ears bleed” any day!

Of course, this was released on the fantastic(ly cheesy) WCW Slam Jam CD which you can read all about in The Archives!

  1. Drew Bludd says:

    The song is factually accurate.
He IS the son of a son.

  2. Vince B says:

I’m so glad Dustin Rhodes became Goldust. Watching him basically try to be his dad is just cringe-worthy.

  3. Sean Bateman says:

If he was teaming up with Butch Reed in a buddy cop TV series. they would be called the Naturals…

  4. Drew B says:

I liked first run WCW “Natural” Dustin Rhodes. Nothing wrong with him fighting Bunkhouse Buck and Steve Austin.

Now, second run WCW with the red leather pants and the goatee. Oofah.

What was it about this Slam Jam CD that couldn’t get anything right?

Steiner Brother’s song misstates the college they went to. It’s Michigan State not Michigan.

Natural Dustin Rhodes is the son of a son of a plumber, not just a son of a son.

I think there were more errors. Like Johnny B. Badd’s song saying he’s from NYC when he was billed from Macon, GA and born in Buffalo NY.

    • Zee says:

Steiner Brothers went to University of Michigan the song says Michigan University. Not sure where you got Michigan State from

    • Vince B says:

You can’t forget Man Called Sting being gibberish without its Titantron video accompaniment.

The “he does this! he does that!” part makes sense when you see that it’s Sting doing Stinger Splashes and stuff during that verse!

  6. Alexandru says:

Yeah Dustin Rhodes proves it’s sometimes better not to be yourself in wrestling. A gimmick is what some guys need just like he needed a new theme song

  7. Sonofbliss says:

They actually included this in WWE 2K16 as part of the Hall of Fame DLC. Steamboat (with dragon wings) & Dustin vs Arn & Zybysko was the highlighted match.
