It Came From YouTube: The Undertaker searches for the camera

This is The Undertaker’s very first WWE match- taped a few days before the “official” Survivor Series debut in 1990.

When he goes for The Tombstone. he spins the guy around a bit because he’s trying to find the hard (fixed) camera but he ends up turning around 180 degrees away from where the hard camera really is.

D’oh!

Fortunately, the mobile camera gets a good shot of the finisher!

Now that was a good old fashioned squash match. I don’t remember Honky Tonk doing commentary then, Babyface Piper announcer really sucked. All credibility from that gig went out the window when he tried to sell The Gooker at Survivor Series. Thank heavens Percy Pringle got hired for Paul Bearer and they dropped the Caine name for Taker.

I’ve always joked around that someone (Vince) must’ve REALLY loved the Caine/Kane name, originally tagging it along with the Undertaker, then saving it for the Undertaker’s long to be thought dead brother.

Was Honky Tonk Man doing commentary on WWE’s then-premiere show Superstars?

I only remember him leaving the WWE shortly before the Royal Rumble 1991?

I think the idea was to move him into a full time role as a commentator after working an angle with Valentine over splitting from Jimmy Hart, but he balked at the idea and left.

I remember watching this and was amazed how a big guy like that walk the top rope like that. Damn, it feels good to be a mark…
