Two “Airplane”-style spoof comedies have used tag team wrestling as one of their gags. Hulk Hogan himself cameod in “Spy Hard”, “tagging in” to help a surprised Leslie Nielsen fight a baddie. For someone so reluctant to job to actual wrestlers, Hogan puts over celebrity psychologist *Joyce Brothers*, who tags in to save him.

“Top Secret”, a mixed-up spoof of spy and war movies, has a short but fun bit. The 1:15 mark shows the good guys infiltrating the villains’ fortress. Barbed wire proves to be good for Irish whips.

I love these spoof movies! This made my day! Thanks, Little Louie P!

Does anyone besides myself remember Hulk Hogan’s cameo in “Gremlins 2: The New Batch”? It was only in the theatrical release. The movie is playing, when all of a sudden, the film reel starts to catch on fire and melt. It then cuts to a scene of Hogan sitting in a theatre, wearing his wrestling gear, of course. He gets up and cuts a classic Hogan promo, threatening the Gremlins, and ordering them to restart the movie, which they do.
The VHS release cut that scene and replaced it with the tape screwing up, leaving your TV screen showing static, which the Gremlins then start making shadow puppets in front of, before the movie restarts.

Yeah, the VHS release had a John Wayne cameo! The DVD and Blu-Ray have both scenes. I loved the Hulk cameo in that! 🙂

The Hulk Hogan scene was always used in TV airings, though.

In the novelization, at that point in the story, the author pleads for help as he’s been tied up by Gremlins. I was so hoping they would work Hulk Hogan in. Missed opportunity.

Didn’t they know that being tossed into the barbed wire causes a lot of sparks to be shot off. Can’t say I liked the video of Hogan where he’s auditioning for a new Tarantino movie, the video quality wasn’t good and the audio got pretty repetitive.

Hogan camped in Gremlins 28th and a Muppets film. He even played a US president on an episode of Robot Chicken (which he satire Hogan’s Heroes with Ol Hot Rod)

“Top Secret” has the best Beach Boys spoof ever too, great film
