RIP Hot Rod

And here’s Piper telling the story behind the single.

Here’s the B-Side to the “I’m Your Man” single. I like this one has a sort of a Billy Joel feel to it.

Yeah when I heard about this I thought it was a joke. While this is standard pop nonsense I’ll give Piper credit for putting his all into it.

  2. Sean Bateman says:

funny thing is that I sent the music video of this here a while ago.

Gotta love the image on the album. It’s too awesome to hate.

My God I never knew Roddy Piper was the lead singer for the Bay City Rollers! And the lyrics are completely at odds with his ring persona. The last part of the song is the only part that is true Roddy – do you think he was adlibbing at the end…I can be your milkman?

  5. John C says:

It seems like a lot of Hot Rod’s stories involve him being naked in a hotel hallway at some point. I’m in a hotel right now so I could pay tribute to him by emerging, bagpipes exposed into the hallway. However my room is next to the elevator and I’m worried about getting the shaft.

This a very weird song in the sense that it was released in the 90s but sounds like something from the early to mid 60s. If this had come out 30 years earlier it probably would have been a staple of oldies stations.

“Piper wants Hogan!!” – And so began the iconic feud between the two legends on WCW Nitro, and it all started with a cheesy music video.
