It Came From YouTube: Bobby Heenan trains Rick Rude to prepare for The Ultimate Warrior

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan helps Rick Rude train for his match against The Ultimate Warrior at SummreSlam ’90.

A few things here…

1. This is one of the only times I can think of where Bobby Heenan really did much of anything to actually help one of his wrestlers he was managing.

2. I didn’t think anyone climbed ropes at all after they were finished with gym class in Elementary School. Who knew?! Hope you enjoy that nice shot of Rude’s “area” as he’s climbing the rope, Crappers!

3. I want one of those Ultimate Warrior speed punching bags so bad. I wonder how much that set Bobby back to get customized?

4. All this training was for naught, because Rick lost the match. I blame Bobby’s training regimen.

Who would’ve guessed ten years later, Shane McMahon would be better personal trainer than Bobby Heenan?

  2. Brownie_the_3rd says:

You have the year wrong, this is for their match at SummerSlam ’90

  3. Anonymous says:

Warrior’s feud with Rude was the best in-ring work of his career.

  4. John says:

I love how Bobby tries to get out of the way of Rude’s crotch area as he climbs up the rope. Then right after the Warrior match it was pretty much bye bye Rick from the WWF until ’97.

  5. THE Jeffry Mason says:

You skipped 4. Did Heenan train you to count by having you climb ropes? 🙂

  6. George from Dudleyville,NY says:

I call blasphemy on Shane O’ Mac being a better trainer then “The Brain”. Bobby trained Narcissist Lex Luger by oiling him up and holding mirrors. Helped Ric Flair get into the head of Savage with those infamous pictures of Ric & Liz in WWF magazine. Maybe most importantly, had the intellect to wear a dog catchers suit against Buldogs. To quote Daniel Tosh, ” A time when Bobby Heenan was considered the smartest man in the world.”
