Jordan’s funny Guanajuato write-up reminded me:
When the acclaimed early 90s cartoon “Batman: The Animated Series” did an episode with Bane (a Latin American villain), they had the great taste to design him as a luchador. And they obviously had wrestling on their minds when Batman fights Bane at the climax. Batman actually pulls a couple hurricanranas, and Bane clotheslines Batman after “throwing him off the ropes”. (Yeah, they went a little overboard there.)
As you can see, ICO-PRO is Bane’s key to success, but also his weakness.
This one’s for you, R.D!
This Bane > Bane from Batman & Robin (aka Jeep Swenson, who played in the WC Inducted No Holds Barred).
I’d go as far to put him over TDKR Bane as well.
Early superhero costumes from he 1930s and 40s were based on those of pro wrestlers and circus performers. Hence the underwear in the outside for so many years.
And Batman did have to resort to using an international object to get the advantage. I believe Bane may have been in violation of the WWE’s Wellness Policy however Impact had no issue with this alleged usage of a PED. Ace & Gary probably would let the girl go also.
Hunico replaced one of them halfway through the episode.
Speaking of hunico does he actually wrestle or what ?
One thing I always wished is that someone would take the scene with the hurricaranas and sync to a match from WCW where Tony Schiavone and some other commentator had trouble figuring out the difference between a hurricarana and a head scissor takedown.
