Richmond, VA – In honor of Memorial Day, WWE remembered various wrestling angles that have been forgotten over the years.
The entire Raw locker room gathered on stage in front of the live audience. Several Superstars sported black armbands and commemorative shirts with “#ForgottenAngles”. Members of the WWE Universe removed their hats and solemnly bowed their heads.
A beautiful tribute video played on the Titantron. “Tell Me A Lie” was sung beautifully by Aidan English. Clips from angles such as the two Doinks and the McMahon lockbox flashed across the screen. Fans cheered at images of GTV, Muhammad Hassan, and the mystery of who was lifting the briefcase at King of the Ring 1999. Hardcore fans were even treated to the only promo of Hade Vansen, an obscure wrestler that never appeared in a match for WWE.
Several WCW/NWA angles were also in the recap. The White Hummer, Baby Doll blackmailing Dusty Rhodes and Harlem Heat never coming for Hulk Hogan were met with applause. Due to time constraints, ECW footage was shown on the WWE app.
Finally, footage of Vince McMahon’s “death” played for the eager audience.
Vince McMahon visibly choked up when seeing a replay of his limousine exploding. A single tear rolled down McMahon’s cheek which he physically forced back into his tear duct. “Nice try,” McMahon whispered menacingly to the tear.
The solemn event finally concluded with a ten-bell salute. It stopped at six bells and was never mentioned again.
