Headlies: Last Of The “Green Mist” Factories To Close

Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan – Abunai! Industries, famous for producing the dreaded “Green Mist”, prepared to close their factory doors for the final time this week, effectively ending an era in Japanese wrestling.

The “Green Mist” was a common illegal maneuver used in wrestling where one wrestler would spit the poison directly into the eyes of their opponent, leaving them temporarily blinded. While green was the most common form of the mist, there were others including “Red Mist” which caused an extremely painful burning sensation, “Black Mist” which caused a longer-lasting blindness, “Blue Mist” which put an opponent to sleep, “Yellow Mist” which paralyzed an opponent, and the rarely-used “Brown Mist” which caused an opponent to take multiple showers and receive a tetanus shot.

“There were many sad faces today, but we knew this was coming for a long time,” said Abunai! Industries president and CEO Takeshi Fukada. “Thanks to the popularity of legends like The Great Kabuki, Killer Khan, Great Muta, and Kendo Nagasaki, there were dozens of factories producing many of the mists used by Japanese wrestlers,” he said, gesturing slightly to the empty factories that dotted the surrounding area.

“Tajiri carried the banner through the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but unfortunately, non-legitimate wrestlers started to use it. People like Gangrel with his stupid fake blood. Even Roxxi Leaveaux once used ‘Purple Mist’. That’s not even a thing! The final straw was when Hornswoggle used the Green Mist on a mini Boogeyman. Hornswoggle!” shouted Fukada. He then muttered several swear words in Japanese under his breath.

“I don’t know why WWE does nothing with Yoshi Tatsu,” he said to himself.

Fukada sighed deeply, gazing at his factory one last time. As he was about to lock the gates, a worker shouted “Teishi! Do not lock the gates! I have great news! The Great Muta and Seiya Sanada will be competing at TNA Lockdown this Sunday!

Fukada flung open the gates and shouted, “We are back in business!”

Nicely done! Needed this laugh today!

Brown Mist: Proudly presented to to you by “Big Show Poops”, (tm. & copyright “Wrestlecrap”).

  3. John C says:

And of course The Sandman used the dreaded Natural Light Mist Spray.

  4. Walt says:

Let’s see, who used the mist…
Kabuki, Muta, Khan, Nagasaki were mentioned, as was Tajiri.

Satoshi Kojima used it, Onita used it. Kwang the Puerto Rican Ninja used it. Didn’t Albert/A-Train/Tensai/Sweet T use it? Oh Liger used it too as Kishin Liger.

I always thought the mist was an awesome heel tactic, but I’ll be honest, I’ve only ever seen green and red. Can anyone point out a match where blue, black or yellow was used.

As a side note, in WWF No Mercy for the N64, if you used the Poison Mist finisher repeatedly, you did get different colors.

I admittedly know very little about Japanese wrestling history, so I can’t help much with the answers. I love the mist gimmick. It just looks great and it comes out of nowhere. Plus it was always fun when it backfired and they end up “swallowing” the mist by accident.

Here’s the video of Tajiri blinding Nidia with the black mist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs-h6wAtuKc#t=312

Here’s a quick video of Tajiri using the blue mist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9FwO3eeiwg

  5. Thomas Moffatt says:

Tensai used to use the green mist when he had the name Lord in front

Would I be correct in thinking that the White Powder factory had already ceased business? Long time since anyone did the old powder to the eyes…

  6. Walt says:

Yeah, they shut it down after some guys tried to make a line and snort it in the ring.

  7. Sir Thomas says:

    I miss Tajiri, mist included.

  8. Nick Nutter says:

“Even Roxxi Leaveaux once used ‘Purple Mist’. That’s not even a thing!”

Then Muta goes and uses it on Lockdown (after using the green mist, no less).
